The East Hampton shop of designer Tory Burch was the site of a charity shopping party this summer hosted by Stewart Lane and Bonnie Comley Lane, noted Broadway producers of hit shows such as Legally Blonde, Sunday in the Park with George, and The 39 Steps and supporters of The Theatre Museum which received a portion of the event’s proceeds.
The fundraiser drew many high-profile artists and supporters of the theatre and performing arts community including Jano Herbosh, President of The Drama League, film producer Beverly Cahme, Kathy Ferguson and Mark Zurack, Suzan Kramer, James and Virginia Comley, Robin Cofer and Dominic D'Alleva, and author Joe Triano.
The Lanes are founding members of The Theatre Museum as well as a part of New York theatre history themselves. Mr. Lane, often called “Mr. Broadway”, owns the iconic Palace Theatre, current home to the revival of West Side Story. He has produced legendary Broadway shows such as La Cage Aux Folles, The Will Rogers Follies, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Alfred Molina in Fiddler on the Roof and Minnelli on Minnelli. Ms. Comley Lane is actively involved in museum events, education programs and the preservation of theatre artifacts and memorabilia which have recently found a permanent gallery home in the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center.
Coverage of the charity event was featured in Newsday, Black Tie Magazine and Theater Life.
