ANNUAL REPORT
Seats: New York 3rd Edition
by Jodé Millman
Have you ever bought theatre tickets, thinking you got a really good deal, and it turns out you can’t see a third of the stage? Are you lost when it comes to finding cheap tickets? Is your theatre etiquette rusty?
Jodé Millman anticipated these problems, and provides answers in the 3rd edition of, Seats: New York, first written by her father in 1998. Seats is a quintessential guide, giving theatre-goers, first-timers and otherwise, pertinent information about seat placement in theatres and stadiums, where to find cheap and even free tickets, tips on proper theatre etiquette, and much, much more. Included in the guide are 180 seating charts for New York metro area theaters, concert halls, and sports stadiums, with a color-coded Seats pricing guide.
When asked why everyone should own a copy of Seats, Millman answered, “For several reasons. First, you’re able to be an educated consumer. So when you buy a seat, you’re able to negotiate with the ticket office and ask for the exact seat you want. Second, the charts are color-coded, which means that you’re able to see the price points for each type of ticket. So you’re able to get the same view for a cheaper price just knowing how to pick the right seat. Third, we have a section in the book that’s called Ticket Concierge which tells you how to get free tickets, and extremely cheap tickets. In this economy, by just buying the book you’ll save that amount on the first ticket you buy.”
Furthermore, Millman invites theatergoers to www.worldseats.com, which has virtually real-time updates of charts, as well as information within the book and free events as they become available.
